Serbia’s Ana Ivanovic kissed the dust too early at the U.S. Open after falling to the wits and grits of Dominika Cibulkova.

Agniezska Radwanska cruised into the second round of the U.S. Open with straight sets win over teenage debutante Katerina Siniakova.
The 15th seed won 81% of points on his first serve and faced break point just once en route to a 6-2 6-3 win over the Czech.
The Pole broke No. 69-ranked Siniakova twice in the first set to seal the opening set.
The 19-year-old tried to force her way back in the game early in the second set breaking Radwanska in the opening game, but was immediately broken back with the three-time Wimbledon semi-finalist regaining momentum to eventually close out the match with her fourth ace.
Siniakova matched Radwanska for winners (15 for 15); however, her undoing was giving away 31 u forced errors to her opponents’ 10 – much of which were as a result of sending her backhands long.

Cibulkova survived a mid-match blip against seventh seed Ivanovic in Arthur Ashe stadium, to emerge 6-3 3-6 6-3 victor on Day One. The Slovakian converted 6 of her 12 break point opportunities and also fared better on net approaches than Ivanovic, despite struggling to assert dominance on the proceedings for the one hour 59 minutes duration of the game.
Awaiting Cibulkova in the next round is American Jessica Pegula, who dismissed Alison Van Uytvanck 7-5 6-3.
Great Britain’s Heather Watson suffered a 7-6(7-3) 7-6(7-0) defeat at the hands of USA’s Lauren Davis.
Casey Dellacqua is out of the championship after a 6-2 6-2 loss to Estonia’s Annet Kontaveit.
Ekaterina Makarova defeated Teloana Pereira 6-3 6-3, while Bojana Jovanovski saw off Lara Arruabarrena 6-2 6-2.
