A man was arrested after he attempted to kill a prostitute to cleanse her of her sins, police in Taiwan said. The Christian fundamentalist of Taipei, lured the female prostitute to a hotel room. He then forced her to take off all her clothes, robbed her and then attempted to stab her with a knife, saying that he would “clean her of her sins.”
The unemployed 42-year-old man, who was identified as Shi, was seen running after the unclad woman in the hallways of the hotel as she tried to escape. The man later told police that the Lord told him during prayers to “cleanse the sins of a prostitute with blood.” He went out and bought a fruit knife at a supermarket for this purpose.
Shi tried to flee when the hotel staff who alerted by the woman’s screams, came to help. Police questioned whether the man, who said he was a “messenger of God,” had a history of mental illness. During questioning, the man said that he doesn’t suffer from mental illness.
