Shoplifter Avoids Arrest, Returns To Steal Again While Officer Wrote Their Report

A man who managed to escape from Walmart with stolen goods, returned to steal more items within the hour.

49-year-old Mark Alan Webb of Hoover, Alabama, who shoplifted from Walmart on Highway 280, was arrested after returning to the same store to steal more items while an officer was writing up a report. On Saturday, Webb was seen on surveillance video stealing a chainsaw and a leaf blower. He managed to
escape before loss prevention employees were able to stop him.
Police were called to document the theft and as the officer was finishing his report in his patrol car, the suspect was seen entering the Walmart.  He went back into the store about 12:45 p.m., and stole a weed-eater and another leaf blower. Loss prevention employees apprehended the suspect after he left the store for a second time.
Officers returned to the store, arrested the suspect and transported him to the Hoover City Jail. All stolen items were recovered. Webb was charged with second-degree theft of property, and probation violation. His bail was set at $6,500.
