Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Jordan Ayew from French Ligue 1 side Lorient on a five-year contract.
The Premier League club have not disclosed the fee involved in the transfer, but reports claim they have paid Lorient £9m.
Manager Tim Sherwood described the Ghana international striker as “a fantastic young player who is perfectly suited to the Premier League.”
The 23-year-old completed his medical at Bodymoor Heath this morning before meeting his new team-mates for the first time.
He is Villa’s third signing from the French top flight this close season after Lille midfielder Idrissa Gueye and Jordan Amavi, who joined from Nice.
You would recall his older brother, Andre, joined Welsh outfit Swansea this summer after seeing out his contract with Marseille.
Ayew scored 13 goals last season and made 5 assists to help Lorient escape relegation.
