A woman is angry after her husband was fired from his job for stinking up his workplace.
Louann Clem filed a lawsuit against her former employer after her husband Richard, was fired for farting too many times at work. 70-year-old Richard Clem and his wife, Louann, both worked at Case Pork Roll Company in Trenton, New Jersey. He was fired for his extreme flatulence in the workplace, according to court documents. Louann Clem said in a court document that the termination of her husband was a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
However, after he underwent gastric bypass surgery to lose weight, Richard Clem suffered some embarrassing side effects, including “extreme gas and uncontrollable diarrhea,” according to the lawsuit. Richard Clem lost about 110 pounds. Clem’s side effects caused “significant disruption in the workplace,” according to the lawsuit. Louann Clem said that company president, Thomas Dolan, complained repeatedly about her husband passing gas and causing the workplace to smell very bad.
Dolan said: “We cannot run an office and have visitors with the smell,” and “tell Richard that we are having complaints from people who have problems with odors,” according to Louann Clem. Louann Clem resigned the same day that her husband was fired “because of the harassment and discrimination her husband faced as a result of his disability and the resulting symptoms.”
